Ella Langley Unveils Cinematic Music Video – “Choosin’ Texas”

Ella Langley is officially dominating the country music landscape this year. Ahead of the release of her sophomore album Dandelion on April 10, the rising star has given her biggest track to date the visual treatment it deserves. The brand new music video for “Choosin’ Texas” has arrived, bringing a heavy dose of Hollywood star power and authentic western culture to the honky tonk.

Shattering Billboard Chart Records

Before the music video even premiered, “Choosin’ Texas” had already secured its place in country music history. The mainstream crossover hit recently broke the record for the longest running number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 by a female country singer. Holding the top spot for four non concurrent weeks, Langley officially surpassed the previous record set by Taylor Swift back in 2012 with her pop anthem “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”.

Achieving this level of mainstream crossover success is a massive milestone. Langley penned the juggernaut track alongside country music icon Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. The writing team created a perfect blend of traditional storytelling and modern appeal that clearly resonates with a massive global audience.

A Hollywood Caliber Heartbreak Story

A song of this magnitude requires a high quality visual representation. The “Choosin’ Texas” music video delivers exactly that with a narrative driven production. Actor Luke Grimes, widely known for his roles as Kayce Dutton on Yellowstone and the current television series Marshals, steps in as the leading man.

Grimes plays the boyfriend of Langley, and the two are seen hitting a local bar to enjoy the nightlife and cut a rug on the dance floor. However, the storyline takes a heartbreaking turn that perfectly mirrors the lyrics of the track. Grimes finds himself captivated by a blonde woman across the room. This mysterious blonde is played by Ava Phillippe, who fans will immediately recognize as the spitting image of her mother, Reese Witherspoon.

True to the song’s title, the boyfriend ultimately chooses Texas and the new woman. Langley is left to navigate the fallout of the relationship and come to terms with the painful reality of losing her partner. Fans of Grimes can also look forward to his own musical endeavors this week, as his sophomore country album Redbird is slated for release on April 3.

Cameos From Country and Rodeo Royalty

The music video is packed with familiar faces from the worlds of country music and western sports. Viewers with a keen eye will spot several notable appearances integrated seamlessly into the bar scenes.

• Miranda Lambert: The co-writer and producer of the track takes the stage to perform, anchoring the Texas energy of the video.
• Texas Country Artists: The lively crowd is filled with staple musicians including Wade Bowen, Casey Donahew, Tanner Usrey, Mike Ryan and Kaitlin Butts.
• Rodeo Icons: Authentic western culture is heavily represented by legendary figures like Dale Brisby, JB Mauney, Shad Mayfield and Tyson Durfey.
