Our very own Head of Radio, John Collins, chews the fat with Grand Ole Opry member and country music icon, Brad Paisley at C2C festival 2024, marking the events tenth year across the pond!

The 52-year-old from West Virginia has long been celebrated for his incredible guitar prowess, charismatic stage presence and of course his expressive songwriting. He boasts numerous chart-topping hits, which formed part of his 26-song set (in just 90 minutes), at Londons 02 arena, seven years after his last appearance at the festival.

In this chat with CountryLine Radio’s John Collins, Brad emphasised the importance of authenticity in songwriting, stating that his best work emerges when he writes from personal experience… I guess they don’t say three chords and the truth for nothin’. He also also expressed his admiration for the UK’s country music fans, noting their enthusiasm and deep appreciation for the genre, a fan base that is growing rapidly year on year!

A standout moment was when Brad invited British guitar legend Albert Lee to join him on stage for an electrifying rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues.” This collaboration paid homage to the deep-rooted connections between American and British country music traditions, and long may it continue! Tune in for a slice of the Johnny Cash action below:

Paisley’s performance at C2C 2024 not only reaffirmed his status as a country music icon but also showcased his ability to bridge cultural divides through music… not to mention the moment he took a fans phone for the ultimate festival selfie!
