The rising star picked up New Male Artist of the Year at the 2026 ACM Awards this week, marking his first major award win. But instead of the usual awards show setting, the moment played out live on stage in London, in front of a sold-out crowd.

Tucker Wetmore Got The News Mid-Show – And Didn’t See It Coming

Wetmore was closing out the U.K. leg of his Brunette World Tour at the O2 Forum Kentish Town when things took an unexpected turn.

A video message from Thomas Rhett interrupted the show, before Wetmore’s mom walked out on stage to present him with the award.

Not exactly a standard awards show moment – and that’s kind of what made it land.

Clearly caught off guard, Wetmore told the crowd:

“I’m at a loss for words right now for the first time in a long time. I can’t do any of this without you guys… I can’t do any of this without that woman right there.”

It felt genuine, a bit chaotic, and very in line with how quickly everything’s been moving for him over the past year.

A Fast Rise That’s Starting To Feel Real

The win caps off what’s been a pretty relentless run for Wetmore.

Over the past year, he’s stacked up back-to-back No. 1s, built a huge streaming audience, and taken his live show international – including three straight sold-out nights in London this week alone.

His debut album What Not To already made a serious impact when it dropped, and tracks like “Wine Into Whiskey” and “Wind Up Missin’ You” have kept him in heavy rotation ever since.

Now, with “Brunette” climbing radio and new music on the way, the ACM win feels less like a surprise and more like the industry catching up to what’s already been happening.
