Watch the Video: Lainey Wilson Crowns Brave Fan “Cowgirl of the Night”
Lainey Wilson is currently performing across Australia, and a recent tour stop produced a must see video clip that is quickly gaining traction online. Before taking the stage, the country music star met Tessa, a young fan currently fighting stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma.
A Special Backstage Moment on Tour
Tessa was initially diagnosed in November 2023 and experienced a relapse in 2025. Her mother, Renee, shared that the family is urgently trying to raise funds for medical treatment in the United States. Renee noted the massive financial hurdle, estimating the cost at $500,000 or more. She stressed that as a mother, she has to try everything possible to help her daughter heal.
Australian content creator Samuel Weidenhofer learned about Tessa’s love for country music and her specific fandom for Lainey Wilson. He surprised Tessa with concert tickets, which led to a special backstage meet and greet. During their interaction, Wilson asked Tessa to participate in her nightly concert tradition by becoming the official “Cowgirl of the Night.”
“Oh my goodness, girl, you’ve got it going on. We’re going to have the time of our life tonight.”

During every show on her current tour, Wilson brings a young girl on stage. She introduces the fan to the massive crowd, gifts her a signature cowboy hat, and leads her through a positive crowd wide mantra:
“I am beautiful. I am smart. I am talented. I can do anything. I am Cowgirl of the Night!”
When Tessa’s turn came, Wilson made sure the audience understood her resilience. In the video, the singer tells the crowd she has met many cowgirls on tour, but made a point to call Tessa one of the toughest little girls she had ever met. Wilson also took the time to read Tessa’s sign to the audience, highlighting her ongoing battle with cancer and the family’s need for overseas treatment.
Renee later shared an update online, stating that seeing Tessa on stage was surreal. She noted that Tessa was still smiling the next day, incredibly proud of her moment in the spotlight.
