Shania Twain to host ACM Awards for the first time

Shania Twain is officially stepping into a new role this year – she’s set to host the 61st ACM Awards, marking her first time leading the show.
The ceremony returns to Las Vegas on May 17, streaming live globally on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. And honestly, it’s hard to think of a more fitting name to front it.
A full-circle moment for one of country’s biggest names
Twain’s history with the ACMs runs deep, but this feels like a different kind of moment.
She’s long been one of the genre’s most influential figures – not just within country, but in how the genre expanded globally. Bringing her in as host feels less like a surprise and more like something that probably should’ve happened already.
And with so much conversation around women in country right now, the timing lines up pretty well too.
A big Vegas show with a stacked lineup already building
The show itself is shaping up to be a big one.
Performers already announced include Cody Johnson, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Riley Green, and Little Big Town, with more names expected in the coming weeks.
The ACMs are also leaning into a full Vegas takeover across the weekend, with multiple events and shows leading up to the main night.
Streaming, global audience, and a bigger stage than ever
Like recent years, the ACM Awards will stream exclusively on Prime Video, reaching audiences across more than 240 countries.
It’s a very different setup compared to the traditional broadcast model, but it’s clearly working – and having someone like Shania fronting it only adds to that wider appeal.
Feels like the right kind of fit
There’s always a bit of pressure on who hosts these shows, but this one feels pretty straightforward.
Shania Twain knows the room, knows the audience, and doesn’t need to try too hard to carry it. If anything, the interest will be in how much personality she brings into it.
Either way, it’s a strong call – and one that should make this year’s show feel a little bigger.
