Riley Green Left Bleeding After Taking a Phone to the Face

Country star Riley Green experienced a dangerous live music trend firsthand during a recent show in Australia. While performing for a packed audience in Melbourne, an unruly fan threw a mobile phone at the stage. The device struck Riley Green directly in the face, leaving him bleeding and forcing an unexpected pause in the concert.

A Disrupted Performance at Margaret Court Arena

The incident took place at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne. Riley Green is currently making his way across the country for a series of highly anticipated shows as part of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour. The crowd was enjoying a performance of the hit song “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” when the phone was hurled toward the stage. It hit the singer on the side of his face, and blood quickly began running down his neck.

Riley Green immediately stopped the music. He instructed his crew to turn the house lights all the way up so he could survey the crowd and find the person responsible. After quickly identifying the fan who threw the phone, Riley Green did not hold back. He pointed the person out to the venue’s security team and demanded their immediate removal.

“This one right here? Get his fat a** out of here. Go on,” he told the crowd over the microphone. Security promptly stepped in and escorted the man out of the arena.

Riley Green Shrugs Off the Injury

Fans captured the entire ordeal on video, providing a clear look at the aftermath. In the footage posted online, Riley Green continues talking to the audience without even realizing he is bleeding from the impact. A member of his road crew eventually walks up to him with a towel to wipe the blood off his ear and neck.

Instead of letting the situation ruin the night, Riley Green brushed it off with a sense of humor. He joked that the Australian crowd was getting a firsthand look at his toughness, adding that he was just grateful the fan did not throw an older, heavier phone model at his head.

“I’d like to take a moment while I’ve got everybody’s attention to thank each and every one of you for coming out tonight,” he said to the arena. “Hang on, am I bleeding? Y’all see how tough I am? Thank god he didn’t have an iPhone 12, that would have really hurt.”

He then seamlessly transitioned back into the performance, asking the audience to participate safely for the remainder of the track.

“I was gonna get y’all to sing this song one time, y’all want to try it? Do me a favor right here, get your phones out, and you can turn the flashlight on, just don’t throw it at me.”

Finishing the Cowboy As It Gets Tour

Throwing objects at performers has become an incredibly dangerous issue at live shows worldwide, and this incident highlights exactly why it needs to stop. Fortunately, Riley Green was not seriously injured. He later took to Instagram to share pictures from the Melbourne show, where the blood on his neck is clearly visible in some of the photos. He remains entirely unbothered by the situation and is continuing his tour as planned.
