Musgraves didn’t just throw on a cowboy hat and call it a day—she committed hard to the bit. Sporting a drawn-on beard, a short dark wig, aviator sunglasses, proper denim, and even Dunn’s signature “COWBOY” forearm tattoo, she was virtually unrecognizable until she opened her mouth to sing.
Diehard fans know her history with the track. Musgraves famously lent her melancholic, atmospheric vocals to the 2019 Brooks & Dunn Reboot album, delivering a stunning rendition of “Neon Moon” alongside Kix and Ronnie. Her version is a fan favorite, but seeing her perform it live while in full drag as Ronnie Dunn is an instantly iconic moment in Nashville history.
