RHETT AKINS INDUCTED TO THE GRAND OLE OPRY

Last night (October 13), prominent country songwriter Rhett Akins was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, surrounded by a slew of his co-writers, family members, and famous friends. The emotional evening found Akins at a loss for words, celebrating the monumental career moment and his birthday on the same day. Fellow Opry members Jamey Johnson and Jon Pardi inducted him into the distinguished club of musical greats.
The induction show was nothing short of spectacular, with Akins performing some of his 36 No. 1 hit tracks, including “Don’t Get Me Started” and “Honey Bee.” His son, Thomas Rhett, and additional country music superstars Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan joined the party with a special sing-along performance of his 1995 fan-favorite, “That Ain’t My Truck.” Of course, he got the ultimate rendition of “Happy Birthday” from everyone in the Opry building to close out the once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Akins has earned 36 No. 1 songs to date, writing hits for recording artists including Blake Shelton, Brooks & Dunn, Parker McCollum, Lee Brice, and Ella Langley, in addition to everyone mentioned earlier. He is a seven-time CMA Triple Crown award winner, a 2021 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, a 2019 ACM Songwriter of the Decade, and a two-time BMI Country Songwriter of the Year, among many other unbelievable accolades. Not only is he a gifted songwriter, but he is also one of the most respected and beloved musicians on Music Row, and we anticipate many more Rhett Akins honors to come! Congratulations, Rhett!
