DARIUS RUCKER BECOMES A BILLIONAIRE – JOINS SPOTIFY BILLIONS CLUB

Country music megastar, Darius Rucker was surprised with a billionaire plaque from Spotify on Saturday (July 25) before performing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. His record-breaking, GRAMMY winning single “Wagon Wheel” officially earned 1 billion streams on the platform, signifying the cultural phenomenon it’s become since its 2013 release.

Written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, the tune was originally released in 2004 after Secor finished “Wagon Wheel’s” iconic chorus. Rucker recorded his version for his True Believers album and it continues to be a crowd favorite at every show.

“You never know where a song is going to take you, and I don’t think any of us could’ve imagined ‘Wagon Wheel’ would still mean this much to people all these years later,” marvels Rucker.

He is currently on the Songs of Summer headlining tour, with Hootie & The Blowfish dates through fall 2026. For show dates and more information, visit https://dariusrucker.com/tour/.
