Ashley McBryde Drop New Album Track List

Country music fans, the wait is almost over. Ashley McBryde is officially gearing up to release her highly anticipated fifth studio album, appropriately titled Wild. Slated to drop on Friday, May 8th, this 11-track project promises to be her most authentic and unapologetic work to date.

If you have been following Ashley McBryde’s career, you know she has never been one to shy away from the truth. With Wild, she is leaning into that honesty more than ever before, delivering a project that is 100% her own.

An Organic Approach to the Studio

The recording process for Wild was a stark departure from the rigid schedules often found in Nashville. Instead of a strict timeline or a manufactured plan, McBryde and her team opted for a purely feeling-based approach.

According to McBryde, the studio sessions were completely organic: “We brought an entirely new approach to the studio every day, where we cut what spoke to us in that moment. No plan for an album, no timeline, no pressure – just me, John, the boys, and a feeling.”

Reclaiming the “Unpalatable” Songs

The journey to Wild hasn’t been without its hurdles. Despite massive critical acclaim—including her 2020 album Never Will earning Country Album of the Year nods from the Grammys, CMAs, and ACMs in a single season—McBryde found herself questioning her future in music.

Following her decision to get sober in June 2022, McBryde began a process of artistic and personal rediscovery. This journey led her back to a collection of songs she had previously been told were too “raw” or “honest” for mainstream radio.

Industry executives once urged her to be more “palatable,” prompting her to shelve these deeply personal tracks. However, McBryde kept them alive in her live shows. Now, she is finally ready to officially share them with the world. “When I hear myself playing them now, I can finally believe the woman who’s singing,” she recently shared.

What to Expect from Ashley McBryde’s ‘Wild’

  • A Completely Solo Effort: There are zero guest features on this album. Wild is 100% Ashley McBryde, giving fans a direct line to her singular voice and vision.
  • Deep Songwriting Roots: The album features 11 tracks, six of which McBryde co-wrote over a span of 15+ years. The remaining five are outside cuts that resonated so deeply with her that they had to make the record.
  • Early Tastes of the Album: Fans have already been treated to four pre-release tracks: “Rattlesnake Preacher,” “Arkansas Mud,” “What If We Don’t,” and the incredibly moving “Bottle Tells Me So,” which touches on her past struggles with alcohol.
